Crafting gifts from things around the home
Babies cost a lot of time and money and the arrival of a new addition to the family can add stress on the finances. Don’t let this stress effect your family and marriage, like many other couples. You won’t need a divorce lawyer if you learn how to make great savings! So what do you do when you have run out of money, but have birthdays or occasions on the horizon that you must buy for? You can make a personal gift for someone using things from around the house, there are many imaginative things that you could make with a little inspiration. Many of my homemade gifts have been an instant hit with relatives and friends, and they often leave them a bit reluctant to throw them away when having a spring clean as they knew it must of a lot of love and care to make the gift. So many crafts can be made using paper, string or cotton, a pair of scissors, and a little time and effort.

Some people much prefer a homemade card, and all it takes is a nice picture. First you must determine the nature of the card, for example if its a birthday why not draw a cake or balloons, add some colour and stick things to it to make it interesting.
With some cardboard and wrapping paper you can make a nice box to give gifts in. You could sew someone’s name onto a handkerchief or make a necklace from some old ribbon and attach an old pendant to it. You could make a paper tidy or paper weight depending on what you have hanging around the house. The other day I made a dream catcher from some wire, some wool, and a few feathers I had from an old hat.

Whatever you have hanging around the house that you would normally throw away could be customised and renewed by giving it to someone as a new gift, that can then be treasured or even handed down through generations. In my own personal treasured possession, I have a sock doll made by an ancestor that had been cared for and looked after, and means more than just a new plastic fad. So next time save some yourself money and make something meaningful for people and watch them be surprised at you creativity.
