News That Scares Every Mother
I logged onto the internet to visit http://www.octopus-hr.co.uk/ and came across very sad bit of news when surfing the web. I discovered that a sadistic youngsters had discussed the possibility of killing his girlfriend on social networking websites. The individual is so young that the journalists had to seek special permission of the court to disclose his name and identity after he was arrested.
The girl who was brutally murdered informed her mother that she was going out with this boy. The mother was happy because she thought the boy was a responsible and mature individual and would be a good influence on her daughter. It turned out that he had been planning a murder and was making humorous remarks about the same to his friends.
When one of his friend goaded him to stop talking and start doing, he demanded something in return for succeeding. His friend promised him a breakfast they if he were to kill his girlfriend. There is no doubt that the boy and his friend are mentally sick. However, such instances raise very disturbing questions about the manner in which kids are being brought up today.
Is the overexposure to internet and social networking creating the problem? I feel that it would be too simplistic to blame social networking web sites. I feel that there is a breakdown of social institutions which ensured that such instances did not occur. Perhaps this is why joint families makes sense. If parents are blinded by love, at least the relatives would have an impartial eye and would not hesitate pointing out some harsh truths if they felt that the child was not being brought up properly.
